My first real miracles1951; Before I went north, I was running around with one of my cousins, his Dad had a nearly new four door car. He let my cousin borrow itone Saturday night so we and another friend could go to a wrestling match about 15 miles away. We were running a little late, so my cousin was driving much too fast on a gravel road,We came to a place where there was a road coming into the road we were on.The ditch on the side of both roads had tall weeds, So, we didn’t see the kid on a bicycle until he ran across the road in front of us. My cousin swerved to miss him and lost control, when we hit the ditch on the right side of the road. The car went airborne and landed upside-down in the ditch on the opposite side of the road pointing in the direction we had come from, we crawled out with only a few bruises. The car was totaled, the front crumbled up to the windshield and rear end was caved into the back of the front seats, the only place that was not damaged was where we three were seated. We later learned why we survived injury or death.The same kid that had run across in front of us, along with his brothers, had dug a big hole in the ditch, just a little way from their house so when it rained, the had a swimming pool. The front passenger part of the car was in that hole, the only part of the car that was not damaged. I did not think to thank God, But I know my Mom and Dad did.
